Passport Extension

Information on extending the validity of an existing Afghan Passport

⚠️ Important Terms & Conditions
1. One appointment per person only — duplicates are cancelled.
2. Bring your original ID (Tazkira/Passport) on appointment day.
3. ID must match appointment details — no exceptions.
4. All documents must be complete and original.

Passport Extension

Afghan nationals residing in Germany who hold a previous Afghan passport may apply for a passport validity extension at this Consulate General.

Important Information:
The applicant must visit the Consulate General in person. This document cannot be processed by post or online.

An appointment must be booked in advance through the official online system. Walk-in visits without an appointment are not permitted.

Applications are accepted only during official working hours: Monday to Thursday, 9:00 – 14:00.

Required Documents

You must bring the original of your current Afghan passport — not a copy. The passport must not have been previously extended (no extension sticker). If your passport has already been extended once, a new passport application is required.
The original Dari/Pashto Tazkira verified by the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or your e-Tazkira.
One biometric passport photo with a plain white background, size 35 × 45 mm.
A copy of your Aufenthaltstitel or Personalausweis — both sides, clearly showing your name and address.

Issuance Process

  1. In-Person Appointment: Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment with all required documents.
  2. Document Verification and Payment: Your appointment and all documents will be reviewed by consular staff. 5-year extension: €100.

Important Notes

  • No previous extension allowed. The passport must not have been extended before. If it already has an extension sticker, a new passport application is required instead.
  • Bring complete documents. Please ensure all required documents are brought to your appointment. Applications with missing documents will not be processed.
