Marriage Certificate

Afghan nationals residing in Germany can apply for a Marriage Certificate (Confirmation of Marriage) at this Consulate General. If all required documents are complete, the certificate is issued on the same day.

Important Information:
Both husband and wife, along with three witnesses and two asserters who are adult Afghan citizens, must visit the Consulate General in person. This document cannot be processed or issued in the absence of either applicant, via post, or online.

Applicants must book an appointment in advance through the official online system. Visiting the Consulate General without an appointment is not permitted.

Applications are accepted only during official working hours: Monday to Thursday, 9:00 – 14:00.

Required Documents

The official Marriage Certificate Form must be completed at the Consulate General. Both husband and wife must fill in all required details, attach their photos, and provide their signatures or thumbprints. The form cannot be completed at home.
Both husband and wife, along with all five witnesses and asserters, must provide their original Tazkira, e-Tazkira, or valid Afghan Passport, along with copies.
Both applicants and all five witnesses and asserters must provide a copy of their Aufenthaltstitel or Personalausweis — both sides, clearly showing the name and address of the holder.
Both applicants and all five witnesses and asserters must provide two recently taken passport-size photos with a plain white background.
  • 35 × 45 mm
  • Plain white
  • High resolution, sharp, and in colour
  • Neutral, mouth closed, eyes open and clearly visible
  • Not permitted
  • Taken within the last 6 months
Three witnesses and two asserters who are adult Afghan citizens must be present in person. All of them must bring their Afghan Tazkira or Passport, proof of German residence, and two passport-size photos — same requirements as the applicants.

Issuance Process

  1. In-Person Interview: Both husband and wife must attend a mandatory interview at the Consulate General. Their marriage will be verified based on submitted documents and the information provided.
  2. Document Verification: All documents — for both applicants and all witnesses — will be reviewed and verified by consular staff. If anything is missing, the application cannot be processed.
  3. Same-Day Issuance: Once all requirements are met, the Marriage Certificate will be issued on the same day during working hours.
