New Passport

Afghan nationals residing in Germany (states: North Rhine-Westphalia, Hessen, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland) can apply for a new passport at this Consulate General. The passport is produced in Afghanistan and delivered by post, typically within 3 to 5 months.

Important Information:
The applicant must visit the Consulate General in person for biometric data capture and passport application. This document cannot be processed in the absence of the applicant or online.

An appointment must be booked in advance through the official online system. Walk-in visits without an appointment are not accepted.

Applications are accepted only during official working hours: Monday to Thursday, 9:00 – 14:00.

Required Documents

Complete the application form online before your appointment (button “Online Passport Form”), then print the PDF form you receive by e-mail and bring it with you. Fill in all fields in block letters in English and Dari/Pashto. Pay special attention to: name (must match the Tazkira exactly), surname, date of birth (DD/MM/YYYY), height, and current address.
Provide the original Dari/Pashto Tazkira verified by the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or your e-Tazkira.
For Children Under 18:
German birth certificate (Geburtsurkunde) listing both parents' names — note: Geburtsregister is not accepted. Copy of both parents' Tazkira. Copy of the parents' marriage certificate.
If you have a previous Afghan passport, you must bring the original. In case of loss, a police report is required, including the passport number and full name of the passport holder.

Age of Photo:Taken within the last 6 months
A copy of your Aufenthaltstitel or Personalausweis — both sides, clearly showing your name and address.

Issuance Process

  1. In-Person Appointment: Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment with all required documents.
  2. Document Verification and Payment: Your appointment and all documents will be reviewed by consular staff. 5-year passport: €120 — 10-year passport: €220. In addition, a postal fee of €10 applies to passport services.
  3. Processing and Delivery: Your application is forwarded to Afghanistan for production. Processing takes approximately 3 to 5 months. The Consulate General will send your passport to you by post.
